Weekend fun

Here I am, Sunday night laying in bed preparing for a long a crazy week that's to come, but one thing is for sure....I am ending this weekend with a full and happy heart.

Last week sometime C brought up going to San Antonio for the weekend and I didn't really think much of it. Once the weekend got closer it was a for sure thing, so then I started to think, "What are we even gonna do there? Should I make plans to see people? What's the plan???" C did say too much so I just went along with it.

When we got to San Antonio we hung out with his sweet family and got to have a girls day with  his sister and mom on Saturday. We went to see Safe Haven (loveeeee), made a quick trip to Gruene (favoriteeeee), and had fun girl time (besttttt).  That afternoon we had planned to head out to my aunt's to visit. When we got there I had a huge surprise waiting for me. MY FAMILY!!!! C and my family teamed up to surprise me for the weekend. Being even further away from them is really hard, so you can imagine how happy I was to see them when I walked in. I immediately started crying, of course. Not only was it awesome that they surprised me, but it was also my sweet grandma's birthday. I can't even begin to explain how happy I was to be with them all together.

Between getting to hang out with C's family and getting surprised by mine, it was perfect. I am unbelievably blessed with an amazing family, the best boyfriend (who helped make everything happen), and his sweet family. I could not ask for better.
Thanks be to God for our families.

String thing!

At the end of my last post I had a picture of my gift for Corey and promised more, so here it is!  It took me FOREVER to even think of something to get/make him, so when I thought of this I was so excited. I had seen this string art stuff all over Pinterest and decided I'd give it a try. I checked out some pictures of how to do it and just went from there.

What you'll need:

any kind of board that is thick enough for 1 in nails
1 inch nails (I used white)
acrylic paint
stencil of what you would like to outline
mounting squares or painters tape
hammer
sowing thread

Paint wood color of your choice

Use mounting squares/painters tape to secure the stencil

Hammer nails around the perimeter of the stencil -Warning! This is a long and tedious part.
Tie a knot around one nail with the string and begin stringing as you wish. When stringing, I wrapped the the string completely around each nail twice pulling it tight so it wouldn't come undone. I only tied the beginings and ends of the string. Warning! The string may break, but just tie it off and start with a new piece of string.
TA-DA!
Boyfriend APPROVED!

I was so happy to see the look on C's face when he saw what I had made him. He was so impressed. He even took it to work to show it off on his desk!
This was probably one of the most difficult projects I've done, but totally worth it.
Craft on!

Sweet love

Corey and I celebrated our 3rd Valentine's Day together yesterday! Sweet, sweet love. We had never gone out on Valentine's Day, so we figured we'd keep it that way.
1st vs. 3rd

Corey's mom did an amazing job decorating!

We're slightly obsessed.

Sneak peek of C's gift! More later.

We had a great evening! So thankful for C's sweet parents who celebrated with us and especially his mom for putting together such an amazing dinner. I wish I had taken a picture of what C got me, but there should be pictures of it soon :).

Weekend Fun

This weekend Corey and I went exploring at a park in Katy. It was a really nice park and had the perfect hiking trail. We ended up doing around 5 miles, which was pretty cool since it didn't even feel that long.

The beginning of our berry war

And then we ran to a few heart shaped things :)

We also got to enjoy a really nice dinner at this gem for Corey's sweet grandma's birthday. Definitely a must if you're ever in the Houston area.

Today was my first day in the classroom. Needless to say, I'm exhausted! Can't wait to see my kiddos in the morning though!

Love is in the air!

The past couple of times Corey and I have gone to the store we've spent the majority of our time in the Valentine's section. They have so many cute things and of course tons of yummy candy. C and I both found cards for each other when we were together, so we spent the rest of the time walking around the store trying to hide them from each other. Then, we decided that we would probably get more than the just the one card.

I'm hard at work on his gift and I'm really excited about it, but now I need to start thinking of a 2 year anniversary gift (March 1).
Gift+guy=difficult

Anyways, a while back we went to see a Disney movie and this animated short came on before the movie started. It's the sweetest thing ever and perfect for the season of love.

Enjoy!

Weekend Fun

It's Monday already? Where did Friday, Saturday, and Sunday go?!

I swear, this weekend flew by and I think I know why....

Last week I decided to register to take another certification test. I already have my special education certification, but wanted to add on general education as well. I figured if I schedule to take the test, I would actually get on the ball and study. When I went to schedule, the most realistic test date was for this past Saturday. That means I had 4 days to study. 4! Needless to say the rest of the week was dedicated to studying. Thankfully, I had some t.v. breaks with C.
Saturday came and my test was at 1. I didn't get out of there until 5. 4.long.hours.
After a few hours of resting my brain, C and I went to concert at Armadillo Palace

Image from Google. I tried to get a picture of this baby on Saturday, but it was too dark and I really felt like y'all needed to see this!

It was a pretty cool place and reminded me of Floore's, one of my most favorite places. I'm a huge lover of Texas music and The Washers are definitely one of my favorites. Andddd it just so happens that the lead guitarist is one of C's childhood best friends, so we're pretty big fans. We try to go out to as many of their concerts as possible. They are an awesome band and it would make your life 10x better if you checked them out :). Anyways, we danced the night away, which is always a good time.
Sunday was a lazy day with the highlight being snickerdoodle cookies and Destiny's Child during the Super Bowl half time show.

Now it's onto another week of transition life adventures!
